I don’t understand why people get a kick out of scamming people. I had a bad experience moving in the past but recently i purchased a new home and needed to move again here comes the nightmare. Nice, easy to understand explanation of what can be a complex topic. In your last paragraph you mention exchanging stock. It is important for taxpayers to understand that sales of stock DO NOT qualify for Section 1031 treatment.

Last point is that if you continue to exchange throughout your lifetime, your heirs will inherit your property at a stepped up basis, meaning that you have effectively eliminated paying capital gains throughout your investing life!! Powerful stuff.
